"Nearly two thousand years ago, on a dark and stormy Friday, the lives of billions of people were effected by an earth shattering event. Lightning flashed, thunder rolled, the earth shook and the elements vehemently reacted to a most ghastly scene. Magistrates, religious leaders and common folk alike were awed and fearful at the sight. The silhouettes of the three crosses standing high on the mount were illuminated by the incessant lightning, and a loud cry rang out from the middle cross saying “it is finished!” With this, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ breathed His last, and His head fell motionless on His chest as He hung from the cross. The significance of His words ring true till this day; “it is finished.” He was betrayed by the people of His time, and yet He willingly laid down His life to pay the price for the sins of the whole world, a price that could only be payed in sinless blood. Those who obey, believe and trust in His ultimate sacrifice need no longer to pay the price for their own sins, for they are covered by the blood of humanity’s Saviour Jesus Christ who died and rose again the third day from death to bring liberty, freedom and salvation from the bondage of sin and sorrow. “God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
At the present, the people of Myanmar have yet again been betrayed by the very institutions who have the duty to protect them. The brutal junta continues to cause intense suffering and pain on the people of Myanmar, pain and suffering that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has experienced in even greater measure than any of us. And yet, He overcame all obstacles, and finished His mission of liberating this earth from the clutches of the devil, just as we the people of Myanmar will overcome this cruel junta, and realize our mission of bringing liberty and peace to Myanmar. Truly it is not through our own strength alone that we shall overcome, but united together as one people, with one goal and with the help of God we will surely overcome this trial to obtain our freedoms once and for all. As Jesus was being nailed to the cross, He prayed earnestly to His Father in heaven, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Even as He hung dying the most excruciating death, with the weight of all the sins of the world on His shoulders, he requested forgiveness for His murderers. Oh, what love! That a perfect, sinless being should come to this earth, take on the form of a mere human, live a sinless life, and atone for all the sins of this world; past, present and future - this, my friends, is what truly makes this Friday good despite all the bad things happening right now in our homeland.
We can take courage therefore in the knowledge that we, the people of Myanmar, are not alone in our fight against brutal military oppression. Emmanuel, “God with us.” Christ vanquished evil once on the cross, and He can just as easily give us the strength and courage to vanquish the evil of this junta, both physically and spiritually. Salvation belongs to God, our redeemer, Father and friend. Through Him, we will dispel the darkness of generations of brutal dictatorships. Through His power we will seek the strength to bring all of the war mongers, criminals and genocide perpetrators to justice. The road to freedom, victory, and prosperity is no easy path, but it is one we have committed our lives to trod, and we will see it through to completion.
I implore you, brothers and sisters of Myanmar, from every race, religion, ethnicity and background - now is the time for us to rally, to fully stand together as one, and put an end to this regime through every effort and legal means. I implore you, the international community, to both stand together with us and fully support us, the people and National Unity Government of Myanmar, and help us to rid the earth of this wicked, cruel system of oppression. United together, we can land the final fatal blow on military dictatorship in Myanmar, and rebuild this nation into the peaceful, freedom-loving land that it is meant to be.
May you all be strong in the strength of Christ, knowing that the victory in this battle of good and evil has only one outcome, namely, the triumph of good over evil.
May God bless you, and may God bless Myanmar!..."
