National Unity Government, Ministry of Defence Announcement

Description:

"Today (31/05/2022) in Yangon, there was a bomb blast in a busy bus stop on Barr Street, off Anawyahtar Road, around 3 pm in the afternoon. It was reported that at least seven civilians were injured in the initial blast, some of whom have died, and the blast was followed by subsequent explosions. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the National Unity Government has been conducting the People’s Resistance in accordance with the Code of Conduct and military ethics in order to protect the civilian population from extra-judicial torture and killings by the junta. In the Code of Conduct, it is clearly stated that threatening and targeting civilians are prohibited and that only the military and their system are legitimate targets. Training on the Code of Conduct and military ethics has been conducted. Those who violated the Code of Conduct and the ministry's ethical principles are investigated and effective actions are taken. The MOD has set the protection of the people of all ethnic groups and the safety and security of the people as a whole as prime objectives, and it continues to strive for the establishment of a federal democratic union. We strongly condemned this incident and all like it, and any and all violence against civilians. Throughout history, the terrorist SAC has committed violent attacks and terrorist acts against civilians through extremist groups such as the Pyu Saw Htee and the so-called “blood drinkers”. And they have sought to place blame on ethnic resistance groups and revolutionary forces in similar incidents in the past. Therefore, we urge everyone to remain vigilant and cautious. Please be informed that the relevant ministries of the National Unity Government will continue to investigate and take action to bring justice for such acts..."
