Description:
"The agriculture sector (including livestock
and fisheries) constitutes about 28 per cent of
Myanmar?s gross domestic product and 61 per
cent of the total employment. Moreover, 70 per
cent of Myanmar?s population still lives in rural
areas and remains highly dependent on small-scale
agriculture (crops, livestock, fishing). Rural poor
suffer insufficient access to food and nutrition.
Climate change has already challenged the
agriculture sector in Myanmar by affecting rice
yields and livestock production, while disasters
such as floods and cyclones have caused massive
destruction in rural areas..."
