"In my capacity as the Union Minister of the Ministry of International Cooperation of the National Unity Government (NUG), I hereby announce Dr. Maung Zarni as the director of Department of Advisory Cooperation of the Ministry of International Cooperation (MOIC-AC) which will identify and engage expert and scholars’ advisors from all fields relevant to the work of the MOIC and the needs of the National Unity Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The MOIC-AC is special support department and shall work closely with all the Ministries in an advisory role to provide professional expertise from qualified individuals, institutions and stakeholders on the wide range of issues such as international accountability, core policy, ethnic issues, racism/exclusion, religious bigotry, state-violence issues, and building Myanmar as an inclusive society befitting a federal democracy with guaranteed the rights for ALL. Dr. Zarni is Co-founder of multiple activist platforms including the Free Burma Coalition (1995-2004), Free Rohingya Coalition (2018-present) and (pro-democracy) and Forces of Renewal Southeast Asia (2018), a Fellow of (Genocide) Documentation Center - Cambodia and an adviser to the Genocide Watch (USA). He has held visiting and research fellowships at UCL Institute of Education, Oxford, Harvard, and London School of Economics, and taught in USA, Europe and Southeast Asia. He is a wellknown whistle-blower on both the Rohingya atrocities, the military’s sham democratic reforms, bringing three-decades of scholarly expertise, honest & principled perspectives, and first-hand experience in Myanmar’s politics.
