In late October and November, more than 400 refugees and asylum seekers in Delhi, India demonstrated outside of the UNHCR office, protesting against many issues including the UNHCR's self-reliance scheme and the cut of the subsistence allowance. On 12 November, Delhi police arrived and beat the protestors with wooden bludgeons as a means to scatter the crowd. As a result, many of the protestors were severely wounded.
