The bridge spans the Moei River, connecting Thai town Mae Sot, which lies on Route A-1, to the Burmese town Myawaddy. On the opening day, some 3,000 enthusiastic Thai spectators attending the opening were disappointed when informed that Burmese authorities were not yet prepared for the Thai public.
