''ON 3 January, six Muslims, including
Mahmut Salem, were
transferred by the India government
to Myanmar government
at the Tamu-Moreh border gate,
and they are now being reunited
with their families, according to
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In order to transfer the six
Muslims, assessments were conducted
by the Ministry of Labour,
Immigration and Population on
whether they were originally
from Myanmar and had earlier
resided here, and then the information
was relayed to the Myanmar
Embassy in Bangladesh.
The Myanmar Embassy issued
a Certificate of Identity for the
six, who were then transferred at
the border on 3 January. The six
were received by Ministry of Labour,
Immigration and Population
Tamu District Deputy Director
U Myo Aung at the Tamu-Moreh
border gate. They were then sent
to Sittway via Magway and An.
While the six Muslims were undergoing
the issuing of NV Cards
and put on record in a e-ID, they
were temporarily placed under
the care of the Thakkepyin Village
administrator in Sittway
Township. After these processes
are completed, they will be
transferred to their families in
Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships...''
