"THE Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population signed the exchange of letters with the UNDP and the UNHCR to support the repatriation programmes of internally displaced persons from Rakhine State. The signing ceremony was held at the ministry’s headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday in the presence of its Union Minister U Thein Swe, Deputy Minister for the Office of State Counsellor U Khin Maung Tin, Deputy Minister for MoLIP U Soe Aung, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Soe Han, Permanent Secretary of MoLIP U Aye Lwin, departmental officials, Ms Dawn Del Rio, Acting Resident Representative for UNDP Myanmar Country Office and Ms Cecile Fradot, Acting Resident Representative of the UNHCR in Myanmar. Union Minister U Thein Swe said that the MoLIP, the UNDP and the UNHCR signed an MoU on 6 June 2018 for supporting repatriation programme of IDPs MoLIP, UN agencies sign exchange of letters for IDP repatriation from Rakhine State; implementation of this MoU was continued with the one-year exchange of letters signed on 28 May 2019 for the period from 6 June 2019 to 5 June 2020; this is another one year extension of the existing MoU for the second time from 6 June 2020 to 5 June 2021.
