The issue of giving humanitarian assistance to Burma has recently returned as a subject of discussion in the international media. In fact, the Japanese government has already resumed non-emergency humanitarian assistance to the Burmese regime, and some oil companies operating in the country are also funding development projects to counter criticism of their involvement with the junta. But now, there are some in the United States government who are questioning the wisdom of a ban on aid to Burma.
