"THE Office of the Union Attorney General convened a two-day session on international criminal law for 40 top lawyers from his Office, the Office of the Judge Advocate General, the Ministry of International Cooperation, and the Office of the State Counsellor. Union Minister Kyaw Tint Swe opened the session, in the presence of the Attorney General, the Directors-General of his Office, and other distinguished lawyers of Myanmar. The occasion for the event was the recent establishment of a Special Unit on International Criminal Justice under the Union Attorney General’s Office, with members from that Office, from the Office of the Judge Advocate General, and the Ministry of International Cooperation. The mandate of the Unit is to strengthen Myanmar’s capacity to investigate and prosecute core international crimes, and to provide expert advise to the Government on international criminal law and justice..."
