"Seventy six peasants had signed a written complaint which they lodged at the State Peace and Development Council against Sagaing Division, Sagaing township, Chaung-pauk village tract, Godown village chairman U Kyi Htay and others for illegal confiscation of their lands through falsification and misrepresentation. 2 Information received is that U Kyi Htay and others in authority falsely acquired 106.35 acres, (Chaung-pauk-kwin 766) alleging that a state owned factory was to be built on the site. The truth is that the acquisition was for the construction of the A-nu-ze-wa factory owned by a private company. However, to this date, no factory has materialised. 3. These lands are exempt from acquisition by government under Section 6 of the Law relating to the Acquisition of Agricultural Land because none of the owner's fields exceeded fifty acres.
