Description: "...The former name of the All Burma Federation of Student Unions was the All Burma Students? Union(ABSU). It was formed in March 1936 and initiated by Gen Aung San and other student leaders under the colonial rule. In Burmese political background,ABSU and student unions were very active and key role for the Burmese Independent Movements. After the National Independent Movement, ABSU had struggled for internal peace and national reconciliation amongst the national forces and political parties. Moreover,ABSU had fight for the national education system in order to against the governments? poor educational policy. So ABSU and other student unions were crackdown by the government and went underground in 1949. In 1950, secret meetings were held in an effort to revitalize the ABSU. In 1951, despite the atmosphere of oppression and the dissent sowed by the government crackdown, students banded together to form the All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU)..."

Description: "1. We solemnly salute CDM activists and hold them to the highest regard for the sacrifices they made and their moral stand, for always standing righteously with the people and for fighting together with them. 2. On the other hand, we to a certain extent must understand and empathize with the real life struggles of non-CDM people trying to survive under coercion and repression. 3. What we should and can appeal to all non-CDM public servants is to not politically co-operate with the SAC and to not actively participate in their mechanisms of repression, as well as to not willingly serve the military dictatorship. Moreover, revolutionary forces should continuously impart the non- CDM public servants with knowledge and guidance on how they can confidentially support the revolution and be a part of it. 4. The backbone of the CDM policy should include planning and implementing programs that provide the essential needs for the CDM people for their survival and wellbeing. The CDM policy must include sections that provide full guarantees for the future of CDM activists. 5. The CDM is one of the political movements. We should consider a variety of ways for CDM activists so that they can actively participate in this political process. Every revolutionary force has a major responsibility to organize CDM activists and help them transform from being a vital mass protest force to become part of a united powerful revolutionary coalition. We must organize, build up and transform our revolutionary associates to become our allies, and our allies to become our comrades. 6. Most critically, we should find ways to help CDM activists to learn political thought and ideology, and at the same time help them with details on methods to strengthen their emancipatory struggle and coping mechanisms for their everyday survival. This should include accessing UN mechanisms and programs as well as getting assistance through NGOS, INGOs, and negotiating with Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROS) for CDM activists to seek safe shelter, essential aid, evacuating and relocating CDM activists to liberated areas, and deliberating and discussing political thought and ideology with CDM activists. 7. By all means, we should try to help CDM activists to establish unions such as workers union or Public Servants Union, and help these unions to become active members of the political struggle. 8. We took a position that non-CDM people are not a fundamental alliance force for our struggle. At the same time, they are not the main target we should allocate our resources to stage an attack. 9. We should always let those who want to join the CDM movement know that they are welcome anytime, that it is better late than never. The door should be left wide open for them. Although the CDM and non-CDM people may subscribe to different political values and take different paths when passing through the tumultuous history of our time, we should not forget that each and every one is living under multiple forms of oppression perpetrated by the same military dictatorship. 10. Since oppression by the SAC has become more intense, those who initially refused to join the CDM movement are now joining, such as in Myaing region. In other cases, after the liberated areas gradually expanded, more and more non- CDM people are joining the movement, such as in Sagaing region. We should take notes of such phenomena. 11. In terms of formulating CDM policy, instead of a blanket approach, we should consider a stratified approach, that involves making different policies for different areas considering complex contexts and nuances, such as liberated areas, ERO territories, contested areas where both SAC and revolutionary forces are vying for control, and areas dominated by SAC. 12. We must consult and coordinate with EROS when formulating a CDM policy that concerns their constituencies and those who took shelter in their territory. We believe action speaks louder than words. It is not enough to superficially espouse "equality for all nationalities, and rights of ethnic people for self determination" but rather we must prove our determination with actual actions as suggested above. 13. It is vital to develop and implement an education policy in which rights to education and learning, and provision of essential education services are guaranteed. Absolutely, there is no moral ground for any political faction to interfere or take away these rights. 14. We should not allow our individual emotions and grievances get in the way of making a political policy for everyone. Likewise, we do not make a broad national policy just because "we had made political sacrifices" or "we endure hardships daily as a result of our belief". If we project our own bitter suffering too much over the policies we are making, we may knock the policy items away from the intended results we want to achieve, and the subsequent implementing strategies may go wrong. In fact, what matter most is that we hold together between different political allies, care for each other and pave our own way to the future. 15. It is crystal clear that the journey ahead is a long struggle. We believe that to unify, persuade and organize as much as possible is the most suitable and practical tactics for the revolution to triumph. 16. Judgements and punishments should only be considered when inevitable. Some conundrums might not be suitable to be solved at present. It is wise to postpone or sequence some issues, until the time and space is ripe. 17. Striving in every possible way for the triumph of the people's revolution should be our priority. We believe some questions will become easier to answer after the revolution is victorious. Some issues may shrink or fade away while some may find their own solution instantly. Therefore, we solemnly urge you to focus your precious efforts to the single most important task at our hand that is uprooting the military dictatorship through the means of politics, diplomatic and armed revolution..."

Description: "On August 16, 2022, the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General Ms. Noeleen Hazer, came to Myanmar and met with the junta leader, Min Aung Hlaing, and military associates. This trip is said to be a follow-up visit of the request for the immediate cessation of all violence in Myanmar and the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need. Although it had been announced that the Special Envoy, Ms. Noeleen Hazer, would meet with stakeholders and leaders from various sectors in Myanmar during this trip, she only met and discussed with the military junta. She did not meet with the oppressed people and political prisoners, who are pertinent to the demands for delivery of humanitarian assistance and release of unjustly detained political prisoners, and she did not meet with democracy activists either. While the United Nations have declared that they do not recognize the military regime as the legitimate government, this visit by Ms. Noeleen Hazer is apparent to be in recognition of the military council. Therefore, we regard Ms. Noeleen Hazer’s visit as an unfair meeting which did not involve equal discussions with stakeholders from different sectors and only had one-sided discussions with the terrorist military, and hence, we strongly condemn this visit. We would like to apprise the United Nations of the need to carefully prevent more activities as this - which appear to be in recognition of the military junta and neglecting the consent of Myanmar people. As the United Nations is an organization committed to peace and justice, we earnestly urge the Special Envoy Ms. Noeleen Heyzer to meet as soon as possible with the National Unity Government (NUG), which has received the support of Myanmar people, the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), composed of pro-democracy alliances, as well as stakeholder groups. The military junta has also published the discussions between Special Envoy Ms. Noeleen Hazer and the military council. We urge the Secretary-General to release a clear statement on whether these publications are accurate, and whether they are consistent with the stance of the United Nations..."

Description: "Myanmar’s military shot dead 16-year-old student activist Ma Win Maw Oo during the pro-democracy popular uprising in 1988, which turns 34 years old on Monday. Nearly 34 years after her death, the same military killed Ko Jimmy, who was also a young pro-democracy student activist back in 1988. Myanmar’s new regime, which is run by the military, hanged the 53-year-old veteran democracy activist in Yangon’s Insein Prison last month for his anti-regime activism against the current junta. The killing of the two contemporary activists by the same military under different generals 34 years apart paints a grim picture of the reality Myanmar faces today. Myanmar erupted into a nationwide pro-democracy protest on Aug. 8, 1988 to end the 26-year rule of dictator General Ne Win’s authoritarian regime. The protests continued until the military staged a coup in September and the army violently gunned down the protesters. At least 3,000 democracy supporters were killed. While it failed to end military dictatorship in the country, the popular uprising paved the way for Myanmar’s short-lived democratic period, which was ended by another military takeover in February 2021. The Myanmar people’s leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi established per political reputation in the ’88 uprising, out of which her National League for Democracy (NLD) was born. Then came the party’s landslide victory in the 1990 general election, whose result the military refused to honor. Fast forward more than two decades and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was leading a democratically elected civilian government until it was ousted by the putsch last year. Were it not for the ’88 pro-democracy movement, it would have been difficult for any of the above to have come into existence. The spirit of ’88 keeps Myanmar moving forward and striving for democracy even today, under Min Aung Hlaing’s dictatorship. When the army staged a coup last year, millions of people defied military rule just as in 1988. True to its old self, the army brutally cracked down on the protesters, as it did in 1988. After more than three decades, the military’s barbarism has not diminished. So far it has killed more than 2,000 civilians. Its repression has been even crueler this time, including sending Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to solitary confinement in a prison, hanging Ko Jimmy and three other democracy activists, and launching airstrikes against civilians and anti-regime armed resistance forces. But the people of Myanmar have undergone a radical change: no longer do they seek reconciliation with the military. Infuriated by their sudden loss of freedom and democracy, which were hard won through the sacrifices of the ’88 pro-democracy movement, as well as the junta’s day-to-day atrocities against them, they are now determined to root out the military dictatorship in the country by any means necessary. What they have in common with the ’88 generation is their craving for democracy and freedom. That’s why Ko Jimmy, a veteran of the 1988 uprising, paid with his life for his beliefs and for the country, just as Ma Win Maw Oo confronted the soldiers as they sprayed bullets on the streets of Yangon 34 years ago. The young anti-regime resistance fighters, whether in the Myanmar heartland or along the borders, feel the same. So do the urban guerrilla fighters in Yangon. The ’88 pro-democracy uprising tried to kindle the torch of democracy in Myanmar. Today, 34 years on, it is inspiring a new generation to keep the torch aflame, whatever it takes..."

Description: "This speech is to honor the hero Salai Tin Maung Oo from Chin State, who was brutally tortured and executed by dictator Ne Win in 1976 at the age of 25. He is a hero of the nation, hero of freedom and federal democracy, who has sacrificed his life for the sake of the nation and the people of Myanmar. He had shown massive courage and bravery for freedom. Today, we are seeing this darkest moment again in our history. Our nation is full of young people like Salai Tin Maung Oo, who are willing to give their lives for the freedom and federal democratic union future of the country. They don't want to live under oppressive, brutal military regime anymore. They have said enough is enough, especially the young generation of Myanmar, Gen Z, who most of them are now members of PDF and freedom fighters of ethnic armed organizations. If you look at 10 months ago, we had nothing. But now, there is already 267 freedom fighters’ battalions, who are willing to sacrifice their lives for the future of Myanmar. If you look at local defense forces, together with NUG, more than 500 groups have come together to defend the country from the fascist military. That is the big number of young people like Salai Tin Maung Oo. In Chin state alone, there are now more than 20 Chinland Defense Forces, more than 20,000 young men and women like Salai Tin Maung Oo in Chin state, fighting for self-determination, freedom and federal democracy. It is the same across Myanmar, it is the same across other states like Kachin, Karenni, Karen, Shan, Mon, Rakhine, Chin. Most of them are young people, fighting for freedom and democracy, fighting for the future federal union of Myanmar where they will flourish and thrive. But now, when they look at the hands of brutal military regime, all they see is death, destruction, loss. There is nothing more hopelessness and helplessness than what the military brings to the country and the people they swore to protect and serve. That is exactly what Salai Tin Maung Oo was against. He gave hope to young people, he gave hope for the future of Myanmar, and he will be remembered by all the people of Myanmar like Martin Luther King Jr. Even though he is not with us today, he is always in our thoughts, our hearts, our prayers. His visions, his sacrifices and his missions are still with us. We must accomplish the mission that Salai Tin Maung Oo has left us to accomplish. I also would like to take this opportunity to salute the brave young men and women of Myanmar, for their love of peace, their love of freedom, their love of federal democracy. Better tomorrows are coming soon, where freedom is awaiting us, where the true federal democratic union is forming, where everybody will have rights to be respected, promoted, and protected regardless of race, religion, culture, gender, background and ethnicity. And this is exactly what is signed in Pin Laung Agreement. Equality, self-determination, freedom, what Salai Tin Maung Oo had given up his life for, what the young people of Myanmar today are sacrificing their lives for. I want to urge the international communities, our neighbors, United Nation and the leaders of the world, to recognize the words of the young people of Myanmar. The desire of Salai Tin Maung Oo must come to reality sooner than later. We must do everything in our power to make freedom come soon, to make federal democracy flourish sooner than later, before more precious lives of young people are taken. May the revolution succeed; the revolution is succeeding. May God bless you; may God bless Myanmar..."

Description: "Today, AAPP learnt Kyaw Min Yu (a.k.a Jimmy), a leading member of the ’88 Generation Students Group, was ruthlessly arrested by the junta on 23 October. Ko Jimmy was severely injured in his head during arrest and remains in critical condition at a military hospital. We have witnessed this illegitimate military junta arrest political activists and anyone against them in brutal crackdowns. Many have been shot dead or brutally tortured to death. It is clear, the military is unlawfully committing crime against civilians as they wish. The military junta is the one fully responsible and accountable for whatever happens to Ko Jimmy (a.k.a Kyaw Min Yu). We humbley request the international community apply pressure to protect political detainees from any torture committed by the unlawful military group. Fundamentally, we urge the immediate release of all political detainees.....

Description: "Decades of armed conflict, military dictatorship and economic hardship have driven Burma’s health and education services into the ground. Struggling against successive military regimes in Burma, ethnic communities worked together to give their people education services that the Burma government failed to deliver. As part of its education program Mobile Teacher Trainers (MTT) trek deep into conflict affected areas to provide critical frontline education services to communities. Several ethnic groups including Karen, Kayan, Kayah, Karenni, Mon, Shan, Kachin, Naga, Wa, Zomi, Lahu, Pa’ O and Ta’ang, shared the MTT’s model aims to educate Burma’s future generations and provide hope to the people. Following Burma’s tentative steps towards democratic the opport-unity to combine what has become two separate education systems– one for ethnic people and one controlled by the central Burmese government – is now possible. However, concerns over language and cultural identity have to be resolved if the education system is to become one..."

Description: "The students of Burma are on the streets again. This time they say they no longer want to see the military rule in their country. The political heat in Burma is rising as students realise the time is right for action. In the last two months, Burma?s students staged a second large protest on their campuses. In Rangoon and other major cities, leaflets have been distributed and small protests are breaking out more frequently. During the recent protest, the students in Rangoon cried that enough was enough and asked Rangoon authorities to stop military rule. They chanted: "Down with the military dictatorship, release all political prisoners." "They are angry — they don?t want this situation to go on like this forever," said a source close to students. Obviously, the students aren?t alone. Foreign and local businessmen are unhappy with the junta?s performance — the Burmese are complaining about mismanagement of the economy and the poor education system..."
