Burma's Situation July 10-11 Follow

July 10-11

We have been informed by different sources that there is a festive mood in some
parts of Rangoon with people dancing on the streets and playing the traditional
"Ohsi" and "Do-bat" drums.

Daw Suu is about to release a press statement at 11:30 Burma standard time and
reportedly plans to visit the Shwedagon Pagoda the same evening. Her visit
coincides with planned prayer sessions at different pagodas by students.

Two mainstream student unions have since last week called on its members to
convene at different pagodas for a collective prayer sessions as a peaceful
show of force and solidarity on July 11.

Many people however are still unaware of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's release and
it will be a few days before the whole nation realizes the unannounced release.
