HLUTTAW SESSIONS:- Pyidaungsu Hluttaw: Pyidaungsu Hluttaw accepts proposal for six party round-table talks: Nay Pyi Taw, 25 Nov — "The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw accepted a proposal Tuesday to hold round-table talks among six parties, namely, the president, the speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw (lower house), the speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw (upper house), the chairperson of the main opposition National League for Democracy, a representative of ethnic parties and the commander- in-chief. U Myint Tun, representative of Bago region constituency (No. 1), submitted the proposal, suggesting the talks to develop a constitution which is suitable for the existing situation of the country and to create opportunities for the future of the country. At the 33rd day of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, U Thein Swe, representative of Ann township constituency, said the 2008 Constitution has resulted in parliamentary and democratic systems in the country, saying that systematic steps must be taken in charter amendment..."...Amyotha Hluttaw: Three bills passed at Amyotha Hluttaw session: Nay Pyi Taw, 25 Nov — The Amyotha Hluttaw on Tuesday approved the union budget bill, which the Pyithu Hluttaw had returned with remarks. The Pyithu Hluttaw also returned a bill with remarks concerning salaries, allowances and facilities for members of committees at state/region levels, which came under discussion at the Amyotha Hluttaw. A representative of Chin State constituency-2 stressed that the Constitution recognizes the role of such parliamentarians as being the same as that of parliamentarians at the union level, adding that parliamentarians deserve the privileges the Constitution provides..."...Pyithu Hluttaw: Car substitution programme extended to March 2015: Nay Pyi Taw, 25 Nov — "Deputy Minister U Chan Maung of the Rail Transportation Ministry said a program aimed at taking aging vehicles off the roads will be extended from the end of 2014 to March 2015 at Tuesday?s session of Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House). Under the programme, the owners of cars over 20 years old, locally made autos and three-wheeled cars can exchange their vehicles for a permit that allows them to import a car with the registration fee waived. During the 34th day of the Amyoth Hluttaw (upper house), the deputy minister said that many old cars remain on the roads despite this programme, not because of the ministry but because of the owners? preference.
