Description:

"Nay Pyi Taw, 16 June — Myanmar is ready to sign the UN?s multilateral rights treaty, as the country is undertaking a reform process that aims for public-centered development programmes, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin told the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on Tuesday. President U Thein Sein asked the bicameral parliament to discuss Myanmar?s possible membership of the United Nations General Assembly, which adopted in 1966 the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural that came into force in 1976. Regarding the 2014 annual report of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, Chairman U Win Mya explained the activities of the commission. Parliamentarians suggested the MNHRC needs to do more across the country and stand as a reliable and independent body for Myanmar people. The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw also approved the Boiler Bill, which had been subject to disagreements between the two houses of parliament, and invited MPs to discuss the amendment of Article 436 (A) and (B) in the 2008 Constitution."
