"THE Committee for Supporting
Peace and Stability in Rakhine
State held a coordination meeting
at the Hluttaw Building in
Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The committee’s Chairman
U Aye Tha Aung, who is also
Deputy Speaker of the Amyotha
Hluttaw, first delivered a speech.
He said the committee will be
conducting another ground observation
trip soon.
The Chairman called on participants
to discuss the armed
conflicts in Rakhine after their
second trip to the state. He urged
everyone to consider the current
armed conflicts and preparations
for their next observation trip.
U Aye Tha Aung said they
will be soliciting suggestions
and conclusions from local residents
and people are involved in
or have experience with Rakhine
State’s armed conflicts and
peace process during the upcoming
trip. He said this data will be
used in compiling a report to the
Union Government suggesting
long-term and short-term tasks
appropriate for furthering Rakhine
State’s stability and development.
The Chairman urged the
participants to carefully work
together on this trip so as to
compile a comprehensive report
while at the same time considering
support for the livelihood,
healthcare and education of IDPs
in Rakhine State.
Next, the committee’s
Vice-Chairman Dr. Pe Myint,
Union Minister for Information,
Secretary U Tin Myint, Deputy
Minister for the Union Government
Office, and committee
members Colonel Phone Tint,
Rakhine State Minister for Border
Affairs and Security, Deputy
Attorney-General U Win Myint,
U Zaw Aye Maung, Yangon Region
Minister for Rakhine Ethnic
Affairs, State Hluttaw representatives
U Maung Maung Ohn
and U Oo Than Naing, Deputy
Chief of Myanmar Police Force,
Police Maj-Gen Aung Naing
Thu, and Dr. Nyi Hla Nge discussed
about current conflicts
in Rakhine State, its situation,
the upcoming observation trip,
peaceful coexistence between
both communities, the lives of
local residents, acquiring suggestions
and opinions from those
that matter, and reducing armed
conflicts in the area.
Afterwards, the Chairman
delivered the closing speech
and ended the meeting..."
