"DEPUTY MINISTER for Construction
U Kyaw Linn and
Rakhine State government’s
Transport Minister U Aung
Kyaw Zan inspected the camps
for the returnee families in
Maungtaw district on 11 August.
They first visited Ohhtane
camp where the construction of
houses has fully completed. The
deputy minister asked to continue
the remaining works on
building roads inside the camp.
A total of 122 houses— 72
units by UEHRD and 50 units
by Japan— have been set up
together with one unit of community
centre for the displaced
local ethnic people.
The deputy minister and
party then proceeded to Kyeinchaungtaung
camp, and
looked into constructions of
the houses and the entrance
road to the camp. A total of 211
houses— 100 units by UEHRD,
60 units by India and 51 units
by Japan— and a community
centre are ready to reaccept
the refugees.
As the deputy minister and
party arrived at the Hla Pho
Khaung transit centre, the supervising
officer of the facility
presented about the construction
of new buildings and the
reconstruction of buildings
damaged by strong winds this
year. They also looked into the
plans for feeding and healthcare
services for the refugees at the
camp with 623 buildings for 8
households each.
The Hla Pho Khaung transit
centre has a total of 1,090
assemble board houses which
were donated by China. Among
them, 90 units have been erected
with concrete water tanks,
faucets, toilets and septic tanks.
Another 100 unites are ready for
installation, and the remaining
900 units will be set up depending
on the number of returnees.
The deputy minister and
party arrived at Shwezar camp
to inspect the houses donated
by India for the displaced Hindu
people at Thatkalbyin.
They also meet with officials
at the office of Maungtaw
District General Admiration Department,
and advised for collaborative
measures on resettlement
programmes..."
