"SPECIAL Envoy of the UN Secretary-
General, Mrs Christine
Schraner Burgener, and delegation,
accompanied by Deputy
Minister for Social Welfare,
Relief and Resettlement U Soe
Aung and Rakhine State Security
and Border Affairs Minister Col
Phone Tint, yesterday met with
displaced people of IDP camp
in Myebon Township, Rakhine
State.
Firstly, the Special Envoy
and delegation met with, the
Rakhine ethnic people who are
displaced from their natives by
conflicts happened in 2012 and
are now living at the government-
constructed housings, at
the office of the leader of Kan
Tha Htwet Ward in Myebon
Township. During the meeting,
they interviewed the people
about the accommodation, food
and other needs, and also gave
words of encouragement to improve
education, health, social
and businesses.
Afterwards, the Special
Envoy and delegation met with
Rakhine young women association
at the office of the Myebon
Township rural development
department.
The delegation, accompanied
by the deputy minister and
state minister, also visited the
IDP camp in Taungpaw Ward,
Myebon Township, and interviewed
about the conditions of
accommodation, food, education
and healthcare service. They
then met with women and young
women at the women centre in
the camp.
They then returned to Sittway,
and met with Rakhine State
Hluttaw Speaker U San Kyaw
Hla at the Rakhine State Hluttaw
in Sittway Town. The Special
Envoy and delegation also
met with women organizations
in Sittway at the Royal Sittwe
Hotel in Sittway Town..."
