"A COORDINATION meeting on
providing shelter and aid to displaced
people in Rakhine State
was held at Rakhine State Government
office yesterday afternoon.
At the meeting, Union Minister
for Social Welfare, Relief and
Resettlement, Dr Win Myat Aye,
said that Rakhine State government
and Union government are
working together for the people
displaced by conflicts. The government
is building temporary
shelters for displaced people.
Necessary shelters were built in
cooperation with local people and
are intended for temporary use.
They have been providing food to
IDPs monthly since January this
year. The temporary shelters are
built with state government and
national disaster management
committee funding.
Then, ministers of Rakhine
State Government detailed matters regarding IDPs taking
temporary shelters, food provision,
reopening basic education
schools, collaborate teaching,
health care and scheme to build
temporary shelters. Then, Advisor
to UEHRD, U Toe Oung,
explained UEHRD’s collaboration,
and Deputy Minister, U Soe
Aung , Chin State in of help and
supports given to IDP in Paletwa
Township. The Union Minister
and officials coordinated.
Afterwards, they went on to
discuss repatriation and resettlement,
and assistances for those
who did not leave their place,
collaboration of ASEAN and UN
organizations and international
help through UEHRD. The Union
Minister and the officials coordinated
the discussions..."
