"The Elections Commission branch office at Kawlin township in Sagaing division had been repeatedly demanding and threatening the NLD organising committee members there to produce party membership lists and particulars and coercing them to sign resignation forms. But the committee members refused and gave legitimate reasons, which were in accordance with instructions sent to them from NLD head office. 2. This has displeased the township authorities and we have been informed that the members are being victimized with false charges and plans are being made for destruction of the branch by force...."
