Description: 

"1. Thakin Khin Nyint (age 85), NLD elected member of parliament, was arrested on 6 September 1998. He is elected from Magwe Division, Yenangyaung township (constituency No 1) and is a veteran politician. 2. He has informed this office that after he was arrested he was placed in custody at a certain military base and on the 14 September the authorities that had arrested him said " Father, we will be sending you back". He replied " I will not go home if there are any conditions attached. I will remain here or you can send me anywhere you want ". They then said, " No restrictions will be placed on you, Father." Thakin Khin Nyint then replied " If that is the case I will return home and then I will be going to the NLD". Their response to this was " Father it is your decision. Do what you wish, go where you like, do whatever you want."..."
