When the U.S government announced its plans to impose sanctions o?n Burma, opposition groups both inside the country and abroad hailed the decision. In April 1997 the US administration moved to outlaw new investments by American businesses in military-ruled Burma. But after almost a year some anti-sanctions critics in Rangoon are speaking out.
