Amyotha Hluttaw 2 February, 2015: Waingmaw to get retaining wall for prevention of bank erosion

"Nay Pyi Taw, 2 Feb— At the 10th day session of the Amyotha Hluttaw on Monday, U Gam Sai of Kachin State Constituency No 2 asked whether there is a plan to build a 472 feet long gravel-filled retaining wall for bank erosion of Ayeyawady River at Ward 1 in Waingmaw. Deputy Minister at the President Office U Kyaw Kyaw Win replied that Kachin State Water Resources Utilization Department will be assigned to conduct feasibility study for construction of retaining wall and to seek approval from the head office of the department. Then, the department will be ordered to demand the funds from the separate budget of the president and the budget from Kachin State government in 2015- 16 fiscal year. Depending on the fund, the department will build the retaining wall. U Thein Hlaing of Sagaing Region Constituency No 8 asked about a plan for construction of Razagyo Dam. Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation U Khin Zaw replied that construction of the embankment at Razagyo Dam in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, has been completed by 96 percent, a spillway by 100 percent, a hydropower station by 65 percent and feeder canals by 27 percent in 2014-15 fiscal year. T he budget proposal has been submitted to the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw for completion of remaining tasks in 2015-16 fiscal year. If the Hluttaw approved the budget proposal, the project will be implemented in 2015-16 FY."
