HRDU Report Archive Navigation

The Human Rights Documentation Unit (HRDU) was initially established in 1993, and in doing so became one of the first human rights organizations created to monitor and document the human rights situation in Burma. To this end, the HRDU published the very first Burma Human Rights Yearbook in 1995, which focussed on the human rights situation across the country of the preceding year.

The production of the Burma Human Rights Yearbook 1994 gave rise to a legacy that has endured over the last fourteen years. Ever since the first Burma Human Rights Yearbook was published, the HRDU has continued to work tirelessly to systematically document the human rights situation confronting the people of Burma, and to date has published fourteen successive annual editions of the Burma Human Rights Yearbook. Few organizations operating in Burma, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, can boast the longevity or the substantial body of work of the HRDU. Over the past one and a half decades, the HRDU has amassed and published a staggering 10,000 pages of documentation.

The Burma Human Rights Yearbook not only embodies a comprehensive and credible resource and advocacy tool which is without parallel, it also represents an unbroken historical record of the human rights situation in Burma spanning the past fourteen years since the publication of the very first Burma Human Rights Yearbook.

Listed below is the full archive of all publically-released reports produced by the HRDU since 1995.  The archive is divided into two sections: HRDU Thematic Reports and the Burma Human Rights Yearbooks

HRDU Thematic Reports

In March 2008, the HRDU published its first ever publically-released thematic report.  Entitled, Bullets in the Alms Bowl; An Analysis of the Brutal SPDC Suppression of the September 2007 Saffron Revolution, and focussing on the events leading up to, during, and following the September 2007 “Saffron Revolution” protests, this report marked a new milestone for the HRDU and can be expected to be the first of many such thematic reports.
