The Yangon Division Peace and Development Council cancelled collecting the documentation charges that Rangoon residents are to pay the Quarter Peace and Development councils when informing lists of visitors at their homes. Previously documentation charges cost between K2,000 and K3,000 for long-stay visitors and K20 to K50 per head for short-stay visitors.
The Myanmar Red Cross society will hold a three-day DART program review workshop on February 20 at the Park Royal Hotel.

Twelve Toyota vans out of 200 to-be-imported vehicles left Japan on January 29. Meanwhile the high-end vehicle prices in Rangoon market increase notably and the prices are likely to drop when all 200 imported vehicles arrive here.

The Burmese working force accounts for more than 60 per cent of the current population of more than 56million, according to the official statistics. The current working force is more than 34.7million, which is up about twofold than the 1988 figure of over 16million. Meanwhile 22.3million workforce is currently employed in agricultural sector, 4.8million people in industry sector and 7.5million in service sector. According to the statistics there are 792 state-owned factories as well as about 80,000 private factories in 18 industrial zones.

Prices of imported drug in Mingalar wholesale market increase about 5 to 7 per cent since January 1. Supply of imported drugs also is sluggish due to some constraints in import procedures.

The British Embassy in Rangoon begins since November 30 issuing visas within 24-hour of application as a result of increasing demand for UK visas. It also introduces documenting the applicants' information with biometrics system since December 4.
