Small Explosion but No Injuries

A small bomb exploded in a village of western Burma near the Bangladesh border but there were no injuries in the blast, according to an official report.

The incident occurred in Thasi Village under the Zan Painya Village Tract in Maungdaw Township at 10 a.m. on 31 December, 2006.

A source said the bomb detonated under the glossy bamboo trees in the house compound of Mr. Rawsi Ta Mouk, but there have been no further details of the explosion.

A Nasaka team from a nearby outpost rushed to the village to investigate soon after the explosion occurred. Nasaka authorities are currently detaining the home owner at the Nasaka camp for interrogation, reported a villager.#
