Unknown Gunmen Kill Three Arakanese in Thailand

A group of unidentified gunmen shot and killed three Arakanese people and seriously injured another woman in an orchard located outside the Thai town of Mae Sot, opposite Burma's Myawaddy, on Friday, reported an Arakanese in Mae Sot.

A source close to the victims said a group of gunmen entered the orchard carrying guns around 7pm on Friday, and fired on the victims. At the time, there were five Arakanese people in the orchard, including two women. Three men were killed on the spot, while one woman was seriously injured. The other woman escaped the incident unharmed.

An Arakanese source said the dead men were identified as Ko Kyaw Kyaw, aged 35, from Akyab, Ko U Than Maung, 25, from Mrauk U, and U Kyaw U, 45, from Kyaukpru, Arakan.

The wife of U Kyaw U, Ma Nge, was seriously injured and is currently in the Mae Sot hospital. The second woman who escaped harm is Daw Soe Nu, from Mrauk U.

Some Arakanese people reported the incident to the Mae Sot police station and a police team visited the area. However, police have not yet recovered any clues relating to the murder so far.
