Arakanese worker killed by snooker owner in Malaysia
An Arankanese
worker named Kyaw Kyaw Htun
passed away in a Malaysian hospital after succumbing to injuries inflicted in a
gang beating.
The man was accosted by a
gang of snooker casino owners on 28 May, who accused him along with 3 other Arakanese workers of stealing money from a video game
casino owned by one of the gang members.
After being abducted by the
gang, the man was severely tortured and beaten. When other Arakanese workers at nearby factories heard about the
incident they went to a nearby police station to make a complaint.
A team of police went to the
snooker owner's house, where the owner said the man had been beaten by a group
of dacoit after refusing to pay them money.
Malaysian police sent him to
Unit Foven Sin Hospital Putrajaya
for treatement, but the man passed away on 29 May.
Arakanese workers from that area went to the Burmese embassy to
inform them of the murder, but the Burmese authorities asked for valid
testimonials from the Burmese police department of his native town and his
parents before taking any necessary actions.
