A Conference Held in Paris about to Bring Democracy in Burma

 

Paris, June 14: A Conference was held at Paris, France on 26th May, 2005, on the topic of “To bring democracy in Burma,” said U Hla Aung, NDPHR ( National Democratic Party for Human Rights) exiled.

 

 

 
The Conference was organized by Danielle Mitterrand, the wife of former French president Mr. Mitterrand at the office of “Foundation Danielle Mitterrand.”

 

U Aung Htoo, the general secretary of Burma Lawyers’ Council based in Thailand, Mr. Hla Aung (NDPHR) in exile, some journalists, NGOs and Burmese Democrats participated in the Conference.

 

At the conference, U Aung Htoo said that the live of the people of Burma will be secured only when there is the “Rules of Law” in Burma and that the strength of arms have so far failed in the world to provide security for the people.

 

U Hla Aung, the NDPHR (exile) proposed to use all her credit to push the French government for more commitment towards a “Comprehensive Dialogue” among the junta, NLD and Ethnic groups and to set free all the political prisoners including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi without any condition.

 

The Conference was presided over by Madam Danielle Mitterrand and at the end of the meeting, the widow of the former president added that she felt that much sympathy for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and her foundation will continue supporting Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and her struggle to bring democracy to Burma. # #
