A comedy Nai Pauk Chun said there
will be two more Mon dance performance groups in the coming performance season
which started in September 2005 and the price will increase.
Two performance groups: Mon
Chit Soe (or Seik Non Chan) will create one Mon
performance group and ‘Ong Seik
Kyae’ will also create another group. But he does not know very well what are the exact plans.
“I think, the performance
group Ong Seik Kyae will not give a new name, but they will name the
second performance as Ong Seik
Kyae II”, said the Comedy.
He also explained about the
increase of the performance groups as both for business purpose and for
maintenance of Mon national identity.
Increase of Mon performance groups intends to perform in all Mon
villages’ festivals and special occasions.

A performance fun, Nai Ong Moe said, “It is so difficult to rent Mon Chit Soe’s group, it is expensive and they don’t want to come to
an ordinary festival”.

groups are competing to get famous actor and actress in their performance, and
therefore, the rent price has increased”.

Chun, said he will receive 15, 000 Kyat for one-night rent in coming year while
he received only 9000 Kyat last year.
Increase price for Mon dance
performance not only relates to the rents of actors and actresses, but the
transport cost, gasoline, electricity and clothing costs are also increased
suddenly, he added.
There are 9 Mon performance
groups last year and a few number of the group will increase for the coming
season. As the equipment, utilities and
clothing for the Mon performance groups were bought from the neighboring
countries, they have better quality than the Burmese speaking performance
groups and so that the Mon people preferred to rent them even the prices are
high.
