An extra-judicial killing case forced to close in Ye Township

Duya village headman is forcing the younger sister of Aung Soe Naing to fingerprint on an agreement to finalize on the case of the death of her brother, said Aung Soe Naing family (who is in Thailand).

Aung Soe Naing who was seriously beaten to death on June 5 because of torture by an official of Duya village and members of fire brigade.

His family explained, the event is started up with when Aung Soe Naing and his wife were arguing and beating up each other, his wife asked help to the village headman.

Aung Soe Naing was taken by the headmen and beaten and put in a cell for 24 hours with no food. In the next day he asked to go toilet. The fire brigade official (who is named Kyaikmayaw in the village) said not to escape away but he decided to escape to village monastery. He was re-arrested and tortured more seriously than before. He fainted and his cousin (in Burma) took him to the house.

Aung Soe Naing asked for food and drink. After that his family took him to Ye hospital and died on the way to hospital on June 6. According to the result of operation, his liver had being bruised and had a lot of internal injuries.

The village headman, U Zaw Maung said they would give 100,000 kyat compensation to victim’s family and said to satisfy with the case. But Aung Soe family said, “ he said he will take responsibility for that but he have done nothing yet. By the way what else can do with 100,000 kyat. He forced my sister to be fingerprint to close down the case. My mother (in Thailand) told my sister (in Burma) not to agree for finger-print. We can pay the money for all expenses by ourselves even though they don’t pay,”

The fire brigade officials said he got injuries in his knee while he was trying to arrest Aung Soe Naing when he was running away. He admitted that he got angry and had beaten him several times over limit, said Soe Naing sister. Now he was detained, she added.

She continued that “ his (Soe Naing) poor wife is charging the case but what can do with oral charge in Burma without any money. She may not get any support from judicial branch,”.

According to the villagers who feels regret for him said Aung Soe Naing is an honest man and he never had argument with the villagers. Aung Soe Naing is 38 years old and his parents are U Achirk and Daw Yoadku.

This event is second extra-judicial killing in Duya village, Ye Township. On May 5, a man, Nai Chung Pryin was killed by an official of Unity Solidarity Development Association (USDA ), a SPDC‘s hand-picked organization. Chung Pryin was shot by man-made gun and the case was also closed down.
