Prices of Cars Are Cheaper Than Motorbikes

After the SPDC authorities announced that they would seize public cars, which have no licenses at the end of March and therefore the price of the cars currently cheaper than motorbikes in the border area of Burma.

 

 Corona” luxurious car which exported from Japan which produced in 1997, it is only price for 1, 500, 000 Kyat. Before the authority made announcement, the price of the car was 5, 000, 000 Kyat. 

 

One type of car which is called SURF made in 1998, it is only price 2, 500, 000 Kyat (2500 US Dollar) today. In the past, the trader has to buy them between 7, 000, 000 kyat (7000 US Dollar) and 8, 000, 000 Kyat (8, 000 US Dollar). 

 

Even the cars are cheaper than motorbikes; no one dares to buy those cars except some Buddhist monks.

 

“Only the monks have an opportunity to drive or ride cars. Most luxurious cars on the road today are belonging to monks. The car that have to pay 5, 000, 000 Kyat in the past, they only have to pay 1,500,000 Kyat today,” said, Nai Par, who is from Moulmein (Mawlamyaing), the capital of Mon State.

 

The SPDC authorities recognized or announced that cars without licenses driving in the country are illegal. After this announcement, many car owners have hided their cars in forests and plantations or covered their cars with a pile of haystack.

 

“Because of I worried about if someone sees my car, I hide it at the pile of the haystack. The car for transporting passengers today is now eating hays,” a car owner, Nai San Khin told to his friend secretly.

 

Some car owners have been hiding their cars for several months and they thought that it is not good to hide it for a long time and they unequipped some parts of them and sold in the market.

 

But some of them, they re-fixed or added them in licensed cars and or pretended as an old car. However, those who have good relations with the commanders of South-East Military Command in Moulmein, paid 500, 000 Kyat for each car and still use their cars.

 

Order of car seizure was issued since the former PM Lt. Gen. Khin Nyunt was toppled down by the current SPDC commanders.  In accusation with Khin Nyunt led Military Intelligent faction was involving in illegal car trading, the current SPDC leaders, Lt. Gen. Shwe Murn and PM Lt. Gen. Soe Win have ordered to seize all cars exported from Thailand and China.    This order serious hit trading done by ethnic armed ceasefire groups and border business communities.
