CRPP Statement No. 1 (10/02)

The following decisions were taken by the CRPP, meeting on October 23, 2002.



1)    Continuation of U Aye Tha Aung (Arakan League for Democracy) as Secretary of the CRPP.


2.1) U Aye Tha Aung joined the CRPP as a representative of the Arakan League for Democracy.


2.2) U Naing Tun Thein joined the CRPP as a representative of the Mon National League for Democracy Party.


2.3) U Khun Htun Oo joined the CRPP as a representative of the Shan National League for Democracy Party.


2, 4) U Fu Cin Shing Htan joined the CRPP as a representative of the Zomi National Congress

 

3. Dr U Saw Mra Aung (Arakan League for Democracy), joined the CRPP as designated Chairman of the People Parliament.

 

4.1) Decides to expand membership of the CRPP


4.2) U Aye Tha Aung is given responsibility to implement this task.

 

5) Decides to review all CRPP sub-committees.

Editor’s Note:

 

1)      U Aye Tha Aung was a member of the CRPP as a representative of four ethnic political parties but now,  U Naing Tun Thein, U Khun Htun Oo and U Fu Cin Shing Htan (all chairman of their respective parties) have joined the CRPP as representatives of their own parties.

2)      They will be working full-time in the CRPP  and given responsibilities in the CRPP sub-committees in the future.

3)      The CRPP will increase political work and expand membership to all political parties which won the 1990 election.

4)      The changes are not meant to confront the military regime but when the dialogue begins, the CRPP will have a say in the process, according to U Aye Tha Aung, Secretary of the CRPP.
