(in English) to President Abdulah Wahid of
This is
a translation of that statement.
" On behalf of the people of Burma who believe that electing a government of
one's choice is one of the special and cherished privileges and rights embodied
in the fundamental basic human rights, we the members of the Committee
Representing the Peoples Parliament send joyful greetings to the President of the
Republic of Indonesia on the occasion of his election to that office. Your Excellency's government
is a
testimony of the courageous decision that you and your people made through
tolerance, patience and a strong sense of duty to achieve political stability.
We send
warm wishes to Your Excellency and your people and believe that the time will come when Indonesia and Burma will
be joining hands and working together
with compassion for freedom and justice and rid the whole wide world of indecisiveness
and confusion."
