Smuggled Burmese Salt Seized by
When challenged,
the salt carriers could not show any legal document to the Coast Guards in
favour of the Burmese salt. The salt was being smuggled into for processing at
salt mills across the country, said the CG press release.
The Coast Guards
decided to carry a drive against smuggling of Burmese salt to protect the
interest of the local salt producers.
Another Coast
Guards team also seized 100,000 kilogram of illegal Burmese salt from a boat in
Gahira coast and arrested six persons in this
connection last week. Later the six arrested were handed over to local police
station, the source
said. #
