A Cowboy Boy Sodomized by Army

Buthidaung, Novemver 12: An army in Buthidaung Township in Arakan State sodomized a Rohingya cowboy, according to a relative of victim.

The victim, named Deen Mohamed, 12, son of Noor Boshor Deen hailed from Kyakma Taung village of Buthidaung Township in Arakan State was sodomized by an army of Battalion No.556 on October 28, 2003, he further added.

The story in brief was that the victim accompanied by other boys were grazing their cattle in a lawn nearby Battalion No. 556 and `were playing football in the lawn with the said army. In one stage, the ball was shooting at jungle by the army and all the football players were going to the jungle for searching the ball. By taking this advantage, the army forcibly took away the cowboy to a hillside solitary place and sodomized him there, a villager said to our source.

When the cowboy screamed out, all the players rushed to the spot and saw the culprit with him. But, they didn’t dare to do anything against the army and took the victim to his house. While all the boys were going to their village with their cattle, the culprit asked them not to expose the matter to anyone, if you told it anyone you will be not allowed to graze your cattle in the lawn, he further said.

The following day, father accompanied by his son went to the concerned battalion commander and he was apprised of the matter but no action has been taken against the culprit. The commander also said, “ This is done by mutual understanding and without accepting it is not possible to commit sodomy. Nobody can bar this kind of sodomite, if anyone makes obstacle, he will be accused as a culprit,” said another relative of the victim to our source.

The father of the victim wasn’t satisfied by the Battalion commander’s explanation and proceeded against the culprit to the higher authority, Military Operation Command (MOC) -15 and appraised it in detail again. The MOC-15 commander said, “Our Burmese army is well-known in the world about their courage, well discipline, polite behavior, sympathy to people. By knowing this, why do you come to vilify our soldiers? Don’t come again.” After hearing, father of the victim returned home with great frustration, he further added. ##
