94 MORE ROHINGYAS REPATRIATED

Chittagong, June 04:  More 94 Rohingya refugees

belonging to 15 families returned to Burma on first

June Sunday from Nayapara and Kutupalong refugee

camps, according to the Daily Star.

Bangladesh and UNHCR officials saw them off on the

bank of Naaf River at Teknaf. Burma Immigration

officials received them at Kayinchaung Reception

Centre, Maungdaw.

With this, 2,34,154 Rohingya refugees have so far

returned to Burma, the officials said. More 21,123 are

waiting for repatriation. Another 100 refugees are

expected to return home today.

Over 2,50,000 Rohingyas crossed the border and took

refuge in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban Districts in late

1991-92 to escape persecution by the Burma military

regime.

Remaining Rohingya refugees are not willing to return

to their home until the normalcy of Burma’s situation.

They are feeling serious fear of persecution again in

Burma after repatriation and also expressing the

sorrowful views on the arrest of Democratic leader NLD

Secratry General Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, said a refugee.
