New Mon State Party (NMSP) has not given promise yet that their party will join the resuming National Convention (NC) until finish said NMSP spokesperson, Nai Thein Win.

The Burmese military government owns MRTV released on November 23 that all of the cease-fire groups included NMSP will join their NC until finish that will resume in February 2005.

“Although the government released that all of the cease-fire groups will join the NC until finish, but NMSP has not given promise yet to join it. NMSP doesn’t make any decision yet for attending the resuming NC,” Nai Thein Win said.

“NMSP Vice Chairman (1) only told to the Burmese military government General Secretary (1) Thein Sein on November 12 that NMSP will join NC if it has benefit to Mon People during he and some NMSP top leaders met Thein Sein in Moulmein (Mawlamyine)” Nai Thein Win explained.

“NMSP needs to hold a meeting for deciding to attend NC,” spokesperson explained.

NMSP has been surveyed Mon people both inside and outside the country whether they should join the resuming NC or not.

According to survey, many Mon people believed that there is no advantage for attending the next coming NC after the Burmese government denied what 13 cease-fire groups requested and some Mon people gave feedbacks to NMSP to resume fighting again because 10 years cease-fire doesn’t solve any political change in Burma and Mon people problems.
