Villagers are forced to give wooden poles for a Burmese Army’s new battalion, which deploys in Khaw-zar village, in southern Ye Township, Mon State, accordingly to the villagers.

“Each house has to give 10 leaves for roofing the barracks and every two houses have to give a wooden pole. Our Yin-dein villagers are also forced to give to Infantry Battalion No.31,” said Mr. Nai Kung Sike.   IB No. 31 is currently taking patrol in the area and taking responsibility for a new battalion deployment in Khaw-zar, a biggest village in the area.

“The IB No. 31 soldiers ordered that they wanted these materials quickly and they also forced other villagers in building the barracks. The soldiers planed to complete the construction at the end of this month.  They started building it after they confiscated 250 acres of lands without payment outside Khaw-zar village since early this month,” Mr. Nai Kung Sike added.

IB No.31 army commanders gathered 40 landowners in early this month and forced them to sign agreement of offering their lands even though they disagreed and did not receive any compensation, according to landowners.

“In the army commanders gathered us, told us that they are going to allow us to collect fruits from the orchid plantations for 5 years. We also had to sign for it,” a landowner Mr. Nai Mya said

”Burmese military regime planned to deploy one Artillery Regiment here in order to control the whole area and lunch military offensives against the Mon rebel group (Hongsarwatoi Restoration Party),” according to a village headman.

At the moment, the No. 3 Tactical Command under the command of No.19 Military Operation Management Command based at the Khaw-zar village deploys for temporary military base in each village in the area, accordingly to villagers.

In large villages in the area, the regime also planned to deploy police stations and some villages started building stations.

Because of the regime’s positional warfare and military operations, the regular fighting happened between the Burmese Army and Mon rebel.

In this area of southern Ye Township of Mon State, both the members of Burmese Army and Mon rebel group have consistently violated the human rights violations such as killing, rape, force labor and others against the villagers.
