Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) are checking and registering
adult population of most families in towns situating southern Mon state in
order to raise awareness about USDA and organize the people with business
opportunity.
“Currently
USDA members in Thanpyuzayat Township go house by
house, recording the number of family members and registering family members
age between 18 to 60 years old,” said Mr. U Nyine
Thu, a town resident.
“The
group of USDA members in town led by U Win Naing told
the town residents that the family members who do not
have identity card, can be applied as USDA members. USDA will provide USDA
member card and it is useful for traveling. The (military) government
also gives favor to their members in business and work permit and even visa to
foreign countries as the USDA member told to people during their registration,”
he added.
“USDA
members also told to people who close to them to go USDA meeting,” U Nyine Thu added.
USDA holds monthly meeting in the town.
USDA
started their registration process at the beginning of this month and they
tried to raise up 100 members in each town quarter.
Before the registration, USDA already did a campaign for the registration of
membership to their organization. They did not receive much attention as they
expected in the campaign, according to the town resident.
“I think people do not join USDA much
even they give business opportunity,” said Mr. Nai
Mon Hlaing, a Mon community leader.
“People who closed to USDA asked back
what kind of meeting. If they do not
know what the meeting agenda exactly, they will not join and they have no
matter to participate. At that time USDA members get shock,” Mr. Nai Mon Hlaing added.
Because
of USDA is checking the population in family, the people are feeling so strange on the USDA performance as it is not their direct
duty, according to Thanpyuzayat resident.
Similarly
to the Thanpyuzayat USDA members, the Mudon Township USDA members also are collecting on family
members and involving in campaign for raising their members.
USDA
members were recently trained with basic military training,
