Traffic policemen in Mon State, Southern Burma seriously check the motorbike drivers for fine money since the security has been tight for the National Convention held in Rangoon according to the travelers in the area.

“They check helmet first, if you do not have helmet they fine you. If you have it, they check driving license again, if you do not have it they fine you. Even we have helmet and driving license but they fine us,” said Mr. Nai San Wae a motorbike owner inside Burma.

“You have helmet, you have driving license, but they said the motorbike is dirty, you don’t have front light, signal light and then they will still fine you,” said Mr. Wae from Thanpyuzayat Township in Mon State.

“Even everything in your motorbike is OK and perfect, they find in yours until they could get a problem.   And they fine on you,” said Mr. Lawi a motorbike owner from Mudon Township.

“It is senseless to fine on the people because of their dirty motorbike and no light, for the police pocket money,” Mr. Lawi and Mr. Wae added.

“At least, they will fine for 5000 kyat from a motorbike, and there are a lot of people who are fined,” Mr. Wae and Mr. Lawi explained.

Every where the traffic policemen are on the motor road, join with the immigration polices and soldiers in check points since the Burmese government is taking tight security for their National Convention according to motorbike owners.

“Mostly they check on the main road from Rangoon to Tavoy and some traffic policemen check on the way from villages to towns,” Mr. Lawi said.

“The traffic police earned money before the Burmese military government in Mon State ordered the villages who have literally “Ma” license to made literally Ma La Ma license.  Some motorbikes, which do not have are license are interrogated the reason why they have no license,” Mr. Wae said.

“But now I think they don’t have any way for their income and created new way for income,” Mr. Wae added.

The traffic policemen also started checking the travelers and motorbikes for money since last month after serial bomb explosion in Rangoon, the capital of Burma.

According to the travelers there, they still strictly check motor mobiles in roads in Rangoon and along the roads from Rangoon to various districts even after the National Convention came into a standstill.
