The Burmese government television and communication department has ordered the people to register their TV to have a license and the State authorities are strictly implementing for it in southern
Burma.

“The government ordered it last week and it authorities are collecting the number of TV from every home in southern Mon state,” said a TV owner U Hla Khaing.

“If you are registered, you needed to go to Communication Department for extension the license and if you failed you will be fined,” he added.

“We have paid 2000 kyat for the TV registration,” U Hla Khaing from Mudon town said.

Television and Communication Department authorities are approaching to the south of
Mon State City, Moulmein (or Mawlamine), where the numbers of TV increases, and the authorities are also increasing for the registration cost.

“Because of many people are working in neighbor country (
Thailand and Malaysia) they brought TV to their homes when they returned,” said Nai Lyi Chan a village community leader in Kwan Hlar where a lot of villagers entered and worked in Thailand.

“Last year we only paid 700 kyat for registration of TV license,” said U Thein U a resident in
Kyaitmayaw Town in Mon State.

 In southern
Mon State, a lot of TV are unregistered and the TV are mostly imported and brought from Thailand.   Even the government is registrating TV for license for more than ten years ago, some people fail to registrate.

“We feel no need to registerate. Because in
Thailand people do not need to register their TV after they bought TV. I think we not need too,” said Myo Hlaing who had been worked in Thailand for four years said.
