Now the monks in two villages in southern Burma have faced with food shortage because of no villager in the village after military government army forcefully moved the two villages recently.

Intended to “mop up” the  Mon separation armed group, a tactical command with 1000 military personals, operating in the area droved out the villagers from two villages namely Win Bout and Win Kyan to Ko-Mile and Han Gan villages where only the monks remain left in their monasteries.

As there are no villagers left in the villages and consequently, the monks of village monasteries have no food offered.

“There is none in the villages, and only houses remained left. The villagers had gone. The monks are without food in their monasteries. In spite of the discipline of Buddhism that Buddhist monks are forbidden to cook meals for themselves, the monks are cooking their meals for the time being. Otherwise, we, the monks will be die of hunger” the monks of Win Bout said.

The two villages where the monks are facing with lack of food are in the area of Nai Vin, Nai Zai Tike and Nai Long Hair of the Mon separation armed group who are fighting against the military frequently moving and therefore the villages had been forcedly relocated in order that the guerrilla fighters will be deprived of food.

Not only these two villages were forcedly relocated, but also the villagers in the areas of Southern Ye Township and Northern strip of Tenasserim Division were forbidden to go to their farms and gardens.

During recent harvest of rice and betel nut, the people who are working in their farms and gardens are being chased to arrest and some innocent people had been shot dead with no question asked.

“Not being allowed to go to their gardens and farms, the local people are facing with difficulties and they have moved to Ye Town, fled into Thailand and border area, a villager forcedly relocated said.
