Private computers are used for training

The computers in Kamawet village, Mudong Township (in Mon State) belonged to the private business are asked by the local authorities to equip in village’s school for media and computer training due to computer shortage in school.

Demand of private computers occurs when the senior military leaders, Maj. Gen. Maung Bo from Ministry of Defense and Maj. Gen. Thura Myint Aung come to this village and school to hold a ceremony of opening computer training.

In the training, the authorities need about 10 computers, but the school has only 5 set of computer.   Therefore, another 5 set of computers are equipped for the whole period of training course.

Most computer sets are from the village’s various printing business.   Kamawet village is a biggest village in Mon State and it has about 10000 households but has only a high school with 5 set of computer.   Many businesses operated in village also use computer and they are forced to provide their computers during the training course.

Accordingly to the regime’s policy for education, it has tried to set computer equipment and provide media and computer training all high schools.   But most students in other schools said that they did not have chance to get access to computer even after training, because the number of computer is limited and the teachers did not allow them to use.
