Continuous suppress by the military government of Myanmar
Diet members' League for Supporting Democracy in Myanmar
Yukio Hatoyama deputy vice chairman
Yasuko Takemura secretary general
On September 1st, the military government of Myanmar forcibly removed Aung
San Suu Kyi and approximately 20 NLD members. The members had been protested
against the restriction of the freedom of the movement by the authority as
car stand-off at Dalla, suburb of Yangon. On the forced removal, the
military intelligence handcuffed Aung San Suu Kyi and vice chairman Tin Oo,
and beaten nine members to be bloody injured respond to their protest to be
handcuffed. Aung San Suu Kyi and Tin Oo had been confined at their
residents, 16 NLD members including beaten people had brought and detained
at Insein prison in Yangon.
On September 2nd, the authority raided the head office of NLD and dispatched
hundreds of security forces. near the residences of Aung San Suu Kyi and Tin
Oo to cut communication from outside by cutting telephone lines. So far,
diplomats in Yangon has been refused to see NLD officials, it has not been
confirmed the security of Aung San Suu Kyi and others. We are gravely
concerned the suppress by the military junta as far beyond the permissible
human right violation. Also we think the attitude by the junta is a
challenge to democratic society. Therefore, "the Diet members' League for
Supporting Democracy in Myanmar" strongly requests the government of Myanmar
to lift the blockade to the NLD head office and the residences of NLD high
officials, recover the telephone line, and to release 16 NLD members who
were arrested at the incident, immediately.
The government of Myanmar continuously vowed to the international community
that " We do not suppress freedom of expression", " Political prisoners are
not existing", or " There are no forced labors in Maynmar". We had been
watched the attitude of the government of Myanmar with warm-hearted by
expecting their democratic change. But the incidents strongly suggested that
the explanations by the government of Myanmar are fabrications. Therefore,
"the Diet members' League for Supporting Democracy in Myanmar
requests Japanese government to protest to the government of Myanmar in a
firm attitude, and to take effective and resolute measures which do not
allow the government of Myanmar to violate human right abuses, again. Also,
"the Diet members' League for Supporting Democracy in Myanmar
requests Unite Nations to start its mediation works between military junta
and democracy forces by its appointed special envoy Mr. Razali Ismail.
