The Honorable Prime
Minister The Royal Thai
Government
January 28th, 2000. Mr. Prime
Minister, We are Burmese dissidents
group who reside in Japan and taking part in the struggle of restoration of
Democracy and Human Rights in Burma.
We have already understood that the role of His Excellency King, The
government of Thailand and the people of Thailand is very important for our
struggle.
We will always remember the support of His Excellency King, the
government of Thailand and the people of Thailand for restoration of democracy
and anti-militarism movement, which have been started since 1970. Moreover,
Thailand is the only country in Asia, which takes care of our Burmese people who
refuge in Thailand. So we really appreciate and thank for
it.
It was very sad thing that the seizure of the hospital in Ratchburi by
the members of God’s Army on January 24, 2000. At that time, we really worried
about the safety of the patients, the visitors and the staffs of
hospital.
We must against the acts of the terror who ever committed. The people of
Burma have suffered the acts of terror and repression by the military regime
since 1962.
Hundred of thousand of people from Burma fled to Thailand for economic
reason, political reason and persecution. Among these people, a little amount of
them can live safely but the most of them who live in border area are taken
action by the Thai Laws, live in fear of lawlessness acts treated by the some
persons.
So, we would like to request to take actions against those persons who
committed the lawlessness to the Burmese people.
We were shocked by the news that the 10 Karen gunmen were killed by the
Thai commandos in cold blood during the operation of Rachburi hospital. We would
like to urge to investigate the real happening and take actions against the
responsible persons. And also like to request to hand over the bodies of 10
Karen gunmen to their relatives. Sincerely, (Khin Maung
Zaw) (On behalf of Burmese
Dissidents Group in Japan.) NLD (LA-Japan)
