2. Management Committee for Organizing 56th
    Anniversary Union Day meets

Yangon, 9 Jan - The Management Committee for
Organizing the 56th Anniversary Union Day held the
first coordination meeting at the Pyithu Hluttaw
Building on Pyay Road at 1 pm today.

Chairman of the Management Committee Chairman of

Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe
delivered an address.

He said the State Peace and Development Council formed
the Management Committee for Organizing the 56th
Anniversary Union Day on 24 December 2002 for holding
the 56th Anniversary Union Day for 2003 with political
essence. Similarly, the Management Committee formed
the 12 sub-committees for successfully carrying out
the tasks as in the previous year. Some matters of the
management tasks such as accommodation, reception,
transport, security, etc for the Union Day delegates
will be discussed at the meeting. As Myanmar is a
Union nation in which many national races reside, the
national unity is the life blood of the Union of

Only if the national unity is firm will the Union
perpetually exist. The members of the Management
Committee have much experience in performing the tasks
of organizing the Union Day annually. It is necessary
to make strenuous efforts for convenience and comfort
of the Union Day delegates. The efforts without
weakness contribute toward the national unity. In
doing so, thrifty measures are to be taken; the plans
for the sub-committees are to be implemented;
difficulties in works are also to be reported to the
Management Committee in time; and collective efforts
are to be made for successful holding of the 56th
Anniversary Union Day.

Then, Secretary of the Management Committee
Director-General U Myint Thein of Pyithu Hluttaw
Office reported on assignment of duties to 12
