Bawle-kyun in Yangon Division discussed
YANGON, 2 Nov - A coordination meeting on establishment of agriculture and
livestock zones on Aingkalaung-kyun in Taikkyi Township and Bawlekyun in
Htantabin Township was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation
today with an address by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development
Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.
Also present at the meeting were member of the Yangon Command Maj-Gen Khin
Maung Than, ministers, deputy ministers, departmental heads, officials of the
State Peace and Development Council Office and departments.
In his address, the Secretary-2 said Nyaunghnapin-kwin Zone, Barlar Zone and
Uto-Kya-in Zone in Yangon Division are the major zones providing the division
with food supplies. In Yangon Division, there still remain some more areas
where the agriculture and livestock zones can be set up, and Aingkalaung-kyun
and Bawle-kyun in Taikkyi and Htantabin townships are the most promising
areas where agriculture and livestock services can be carried out. Due to
difficult access, agriculture and livestock sectors could not be expanded in
some areas in Takkyi and Htantabin townships, and today, the regions have got
Myochaung Bridge and Yaybawthaung Bridge spanning the rivers that hindered
smooth transport. Head of State Senior General Than Shwe has recently toured
Aingkalaung-kyun and Bawle-kyun regions and given guidance on establishment
of agriculture and livestock zones on self- reliance. Then, secretary-2 later
gave suggestions on the work plans.
