"Cruel and degrading treatment has also forced the local inhabitants to flee from their homes and displaced. After all men in the villages are always beaten by the soldiers, most men fled from villages and stayed in the jungle. When there was no man, the soldiers also arrested women for porter service or women are raped. Then women also decided from the native places. There are (unofficial number) one million displaced persons in Burma in the ethnic nationalities area. Most of them have suffered form the cruel and degrading treatments by members of Burmese Army and their physical and metal conditions have been quite weak. As long as the civil war, the innocent ethnic people must suffer more."
