He is elected from Magwe Division, Yenangyaung township (constituency No 1) and is a veteran politician. 2. He has informed this office that after he was arrested he was placed in custody at a certain military base and on the 14 September the authorities that had arrested him said " Father, we will be sending you back". He replied " I will not go home if there are any conditions attached. I will remain here or you can send me anywhere you want ". They then said, " No restrictions will be placed on you, Father." Thakin Khin Nyint then replied " If that is the case I will return home and then I will be going to the NLD". Their response to this was " Father it is your decision. Do what you wish, go where you like, do whatever you want."..."

Description: "Subject: Lawless and Unjust Acts of the Military Authorities: A. At about 21:00 on September 6, 1998, security forces comprising officers from the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) and officials from the local SPDC arrived at the home of U Kyaw San who is a Central Committee member and Chairman of the Sagaing Division Organizing Committee of the NLD. One of the local SPDC officials was U Thaung Pe. All of them arrived in police vehicles. As soon as they arrived, they sounded the horns incessantly and loudly. Without permission and without a warrant, they climbed over the fence and forced the people in the house to open the door..."

Description: "Out of a pure and generous heart and filled with charitable intentions, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the General Secretary of the National League for Democracy donated rice to the impoverished people from all the townships in the Rangoon Division on two occasions. The first time was on the anniversary of the National Day (13 Nov 1998) and the second was on 30 November 1998 at about 13:00 hours. The distribution centre was at the NLD head office at 67B, west Shwegondine Road, Bahan Township. 2.
